Central City, Iowa

The 2009 project included paving of 2nd and 3rd Street from Barber Street to Grove Street, along with water main replacement, sidewalk and drainage improvements.  The six inch concrete pavement totaled 3,200 square yards.   With this area being just south of the high school, a 41 foot concrete pavement provided adequate width for parallel parking on both sides.

Epworth, Iowa

The City constructed a mile long, 8 foot wide concrete trail along the north side of Jacoby Drive in 2002.  The 5” concrete walkway included about 4,600 square yards of pavement.

The project included a pre-engineered steel truss bridge with wood decking and Corten steel over a dry run creek in the project area.

Funding of the project was with a Surface Transportation Project grant from the Iowa DOT.   The project was bid through a State letting.   Project design and construction services were  provided by Gibbs Engineering and Surveying, P.C. following State guidelines.

The City has extensively landscaped the trail and constructed a brick gateway structure to enhance the area and welcome people to the City.

Central City, Iowa

The City constructed a two-thirds mile long, 8-foot-wide concrete trail along the Wapsipinicon River in 2008.  The 5″ concrete pavement included about 3,200 square yards.

Benches were installed along the trail in convenient locations with two kiosks.  Decorative paving inserts and retaining wall were also included in the project.  The trail will ultimately connect to County trails originating in Pinicon Ridge Park.
